Working across moving image, photography, oral history, archives, and collaborative research, their practice explores memory, visibility, place, and Black diasporic experience. Their work brings together filmed and photographic image-making, archival enquiry, oral testimony, and participatory processes to examine how histories are carried, obscured, and re-imagined. Across exhibitions, films, and public projects, Mitchell creates work that is rooted in care, collaboration, and attention to lived experience. Alongside their independent practice, Mitchell develops curatorial and research-led projects with cultural organisations, often working across public programming, interpretation, and oral history. Recent and ongoing work includes exhibitions, youth-centred arts and wellbeing development, and intergenerational projects exploring memory, identity, and belonging. Mitchell is a former member of Southbank Centre’s Artist Advisory Collective and participant in the CONDITIONS Studio Programme. They were a recipient of Arts Council England’s Developing Your Creative Practice grant and the Freelands Foundation Artists’ Bursaries 2024-25. Recent exhibitions and screenings include Millennium Film Workshop (New York), New Art Exchange, The Assembly House, Fillet, Turf Projects, and Goldsmiths University.
