ACAVA Flourish
Natalie Mitchell developed and delivered a series of intergenerational workshops as part of ACAVA’s Flourish programme in October 2025, working with children alongside their parents and carers over three days.
The sessions explored memory, identity, and belonging through collaborative making, using sound, collage, fabric, and photography to create “memory maps.” The work centred shared experience and collective storytelling, creating space for participants to reflect on place, connection, and lived experience.
Mitchell’s approach prioritised open, non-hierarchical environments with multiple points of entry, allowing participants to engage in ways that felt intuitive and accessible. The programme was shaped responsively, with each session adapting to the needs of the group.
This work reflects an ongoing interest in intergenerational exchange and the creation of spaces where personal and collective histories can be held and explored together.
